FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
14 December 2020 – Saint Lambert, Quebec
Préville Online! was born of the desire to provide our clientele with uninterrupted access to their favourite classes and teachers. What began as our Centre learning to adapt over the past several months, evolved into discovering new opportunities for growth and for filling important needs in our community.
Reaching New Markets & Connecting Across Canada
Music and dance are our specialities and Préville Online! makes it possible for us to enlist renowned artists from outside the Montreal area. Jera Wolfe, a leading Canadian dancer and choreographer of Métis heritage, will be teaching a Contemporary Dance Masterclass from his home in Alberta!
Karen Natho, an award-winning special needs program developer, teacher, and advocate who lives in British Columbia will be teaching, Music & Movement for Kids with Autism (ages 3-6), and, Living Out Loud — Group Activities for Young Adults with Special Needs (18+). The flexibility afforded by our online platform allowed us to seek out Karen, whose expertise is key in the creation and delivery of these two new special needs classes.
Tailored Content & Added Technology for Music Students
Music Explorations, for voice, piano, strings and guitar, offers musicians of all ages and levels the opportunity to explore and learn to improvise in a non-judgemental, group-class environment. All of our Préville Online! music classrooms are equipped with new, embedded recording technology and can boast excellent sound quality.
Supporting the Homeschool Community
In Québec, the homeschooling community has recently grown by 50%. We can help homeschoolers with our expanded tutoring program, which allows for private and group tutoring, in any subject area, from elementary to Cegep-level. We also offer homeschoolers a variety of weekday classes to complement core-subject learning, such as music, art and coding – subjects and areas of interest that parents themselves may not be comfortable teaching.
About the Préville Online! Platform
Students will have secure access to our classrooms and communal spaces, like the lobby, library, and games room. Our web-based platform, built using Jitsi technology, is easy to use, interactive and fun! Préville Online! classes are bilingual and are taught live by our expert instructors.
There is nothing to install and no links necessary to get to class – one click and you’ll find yourself in our lobby, where you can access all of our classrooms – each personalized with shareable apps and other features to suit teachers’ needs. Class sizes are kept small because that’s how students are engaged and stimulated best.
Préville Online! allows students to take classes evenings, weekends, and weekdays. The virtual nature of this platform means we can welcome participants who experience physical barriers or limited access to participation, such as those living in underserviced or remote areas, and those with health issues. On the horizon, we will be looking into working with hospitals to see if we can bring adapted classes to children with chronic illness and to people living in long-term care facilities.
Préville Online! Winter 2021 Session Highlights
