Préville art class comes up with some hairy projects!
In September 2023, the Préville Fine Arts Centre had the pleasure of collaborating on a special project with the film crew from CBC’s popular TV show The Nature of Things.
The producers of the show were looking for a reputable art school on the South Shore of Montreal with a diverse student population, in order to shoot some footage for an upcoming episode. CBC reached out to Préville after being drawn in by the photos and descriptions of art classes on our website, most of which take place in the beautiful art studios at Collège NDL.
On September 9th, 2023, the CBC crew spent half a day filming a small group of Préville students in class with Préville art teacher Beverly Landry. Beverly tasked the students with painting a family portrait, paying special attention to the kind of hair each family member has.

Clips from that filmed art class appear in an episode airing March 7, 2024, called “Hairy Tales!”
The series’ new hosts, Anthony Morgan and Sarika Cullis-Suzuki, take viewers on an entertaining journey from the salon to the lab to the circus, exploring the fascinating science behind our locks. There is something for everyone from going grey to having the strongest tresses in the world.
The young Préville artists were superstars and we are grateful to them and their families for taking part. It was a pleasure to host the CBC team at Préville! Special thanks to writer, director and producer, Leora Eisen; co-director, Chris Strikes; producer / researcher, Jackie Carlos; and guest scientist, Frida and her super cute baby.
Be sure to tune in March 7, 2024 to see the episode!
