A Message from Compagnie de danse contemporaine du Québec (CDCQ) Artistic Director – Jeremy Raia
The 25 part of our 25/26 season is already buzzing with energy, creativity, and inspiration! We’ve kicked things off with a beautiful mix of new faces, returning dancers, and a calendar full of performances, classes, and artistic adventures.
This year, we’re thrilled to welcome two new dancers to the company: Marie Anna (14) and Victoria (18). Joining five returning dancers, these two will no doubt bring fresh energy, curiosity, and artistry to the group. We can’t wait to see them grow, explore, and push their limits — both technically and artistically — as they work toward their dance goals this season.
A Team of Creative Guides
Alongside Amara Barner, Jérémy Galdeano, and myself, we’ve expanded our team of regular teachers to include two incredible artists:
- Sarah Gibson, who will bring her dynamic Essentrics expertise;
- Sylvia Berman, who will deepen our dancers’ movement vocabulary through Modern Technique.
Together with our roster of inspiring guest master teachers, we’re committed to giving our dancers a well-rounded and exhilarating dance education.
Expanding Horizons
At CDCQ, we believe that being a dancer means being a citizen of the dance world — curious, observant, and inspired by all that’s happening on stage and beyond.
This season, our dancers have already experienced performances by Ballet du Genève, Hofesh Shechter Company, and two powerful double bills at Tangente — one featuring a new work by Jessica Joy Muszynski (remember that name!). We also had the unique opportunity to see Les Grands Ballets’ Snow White and the Mirror before its public premiere — a truly magical glimpse behind the curtain.
These outings are more than just entertainment — they’re part of CDCQ’s mission to nurture artists who understand the “why” behind what they do. Seeing where dance can go and how it can evolve gives our dancers vision, purpose, and inspiration.
Opening Our Doors
We’re also excited to share that some of our upcoming masterclasses will be open to non-CDCQ dancers. This is a wonderful opportunity for the wider dance community to step into our world, experience our training environment, and get a glimpse of the creativity, rigor, and passion that fuel our dancers each day. Keep an eye on our social media and website for dates and registration details — spaces will be limited.
Looking Ahead — Creation Season
As always, our year will culminate in our own CDCQ production, and this one is shaping up to be extra special. We’ll be closing the season with a program of three brand-new works, created for and with our CDCQ dancers.
Remember Jessica Joy Muszynski? She’ll be one of the choreographers, alongside Adrian W.S. Batt and — yes —yours truly. The evening will include two full-company pieces and a duet exploring themes of youth, uncertainty, first experiences, and discovering one’s colours. Stay tuned for more in-depth details.
It’s going to be a season of discovery — of self, of movement, of possibility.
Safer Floors. Stronger Dancers. Brighter Futures.
Every leap deserves a safe landing.
This season, we’re also rallying behind a vital initiative: upgrading our dance floors. Right now, our dancers train on hard surfaces not designed for the impact their art demands. A sprung dance floor absorbs shock, protects joints, and helps prevent injuries like shin splints and stress fractures — ensuring our artists can move with freedom and longevity.
This upgrade will benefit all Préville dancers — from our youngest students, possible future CDCQ members, to our current company dancers — giving everyone the opportunity to train safely and reach their full potential.
Help us build a safer space where creativity can thrive. Donate today — our campaign runs until December 31, 2025.
Stay Connected
We can’t wait to share more with you as the season unfolds — sneak peeks from the studio, behind-the-scenes moments, and stories of growth, artistry, and joy from our dancers.
Keep checking in with us throughout the season — there’s so much more to come.
